Why the Trump administration won’t release the names of ‘secretive’ Obama campaign officials and associates
As part of its effort to maintain the cover-up of the illegal Obama campaign and administration, the White House has decided to not release the identities of any Obama campaign operatives and associates who worked in the inner sanctums of the White Houses, the Hill reported.
Trump’s aides have repeatedly refused to release the data because it would reveal the identities and the sources of the communications that were intercepted, the report said.
“The White House says they’re still deciding on what to do,” the Hill’s Jim Geraghty wrote.
“What’s clear is that Trump and his team are using this decision to avoid the inevitable embarrassment of releasing the identities, sources and contacts of some of the key Obama campaign players and allies, who are now in the spotlight for their role in the 2016 election.”
The White House initially claimed it would release the list of individuals, including “senior White House aides” but that plan was shelved, Politico reported.
The Trump administration, however, has not provided any evidence to back up the claim that they have not released the names.
The White Houses spokesperson, Hope Hicks, told Politico the list was not being released “because the president is a private citizen and we are not allowed to disclose his personal information.”
“We don’t know if it will make a difference, but the fact that the White house has decided not to release names is a clear sign that they don’t want to make public the names,” Geraghtsaid.
In the same report, Geraght said the Trump team has not released any names of “seniors White House advisers” because they are “under investigation for their part in the Russian election meddling and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.”
“The Trump administration is trying to avoid a public airing of the names because they don the president, who has not been charged with a crime,” Gerakhtsaid in the report.
“I think it is a bit of a misdirection.
I think they know that this will put them at risk of political backlash from their base, which is the core of Trump’s base.”
Geraghsays the Trump White House is using the excuse that the Obama administration did not want the names to be released.
“This is the same administration that tried to have Trump removed from office by using false accusations of sexual assault and sexual harassment,” Geragthtsaid, “but now they’re trying to use this excuse.”
Trump and the WhiteHouse will not release names of the Obama campaign members, associates or campaign aides who worked at the Whitehouse.
The Obama administration, which has also been accused of obstructing justice and perjury, is currently in a legal fight with Trump over the Russia scandal.
